I have signed up for Scribie but never really tried working there after a long wait for the test invite. What put me off was the rate: $10 per audio hour as opposed to $20 per audio hour I'm getting at Transcribeme. My only issue with Transcribeme is the lack of available tasks. Also, besides the qualifying test that all applicants must pass, they have just rolled out another training/exam that's really difficult to pass. I already took it more than 3x and I'm still to pass it else I won't be able to continue working with them. Now, I might reconsider Scribie. :( Are the files clean at Scribie?

I haven't heard of Scribie.  Does it have the same requirements as TranscribeMe?  I would apply to both sites, but I am not sure if you have to download something in order to get the assignments.

I really thought you were going to put up a list or something.Kindly keep the title clear.A question mark at the end would do a world of good.
I personally would suggest TranscribeMe,it has it in it for a beginner to learn more. Some sites pay well, but their audio quality leaves a lot to be desired.

I'd say Scriptworkers, they have already paid me around 10 dollars, they pay from 0.30 per transcription up to 1 dollar per transcription, they all last 1 minute.

I have signed up for Transcribe Me, but I have yet to take their final exam. I think I will concentrate on Casting Words and Transcribe Me because they seem to pay the best among all of the sites that were mentioned.

Great list of ideas everyone, thanks ;) I just signed up with TranscribeMe, it seems like the pay is fair but I wonder about availability of tasks to complete. Guess I'll see.

Why not try your luck at You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login. You can find a few different transcription companies to work for. Maybe even build your list of transcription jobs, so when one don't have work for you can try the other companies.  If you do a good job with the company some time they will send you a bonus pay. If you sign up with Mturk just put in the search bar "transcription" hit the GO button to see what come up for you. At the moment I have seen a hit going for $35.83. If you like a task (HIT) I would make a list in word or somewhere on your computer. Save the Requester: Name & the name of the task (HIT). I have found other task on Mturk just by putting the task (HIT) in the search bar this is great a way to find other Requester that need the same task done.

I use to work in a legal office transcribing audio. I think this is something I could easily get back into. I still have my super fast typing skills. I will make sure to check out all these recommendations.

This is all incredibly helpful. I can type 100 wpm with 98% accuracy. When you say you type fast, how fast are you talking? I've never tried transcription sites as I thought any online transcription work was for medical transcription and required a degree. I'm fascinated to learn more about this. I'm the personality type that enjoys doing different tasks, even if the task itself is mundane (typing, filing, etc.) I think of it as a form of Office ADD. :) I'm eager to explore the sites mentioned here. Keep the discussion going! I want to learn more. :)

I make my money on Scriptworkers, they can pay up to 1.8 dollars per minute of transcription. But they usually pay .60 per minute which is not bad either.

I'm a pretty good typist. I will definitely be working my way through this thread to see if there are any that are a good fit for me.

I joined Quicktate a few years ago, and am still with them. However, I very very rarely do any work for them anymore. This is simply because the pay is so low. This is a legit company, and I had no experience when they hired me.

Mturk is also nice because they pay around $25-$30 per transcribed hour. However their audio quality sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.
castingwords are a great site to be with..They are a good one to start out with as they pay around $30 an hour.
Thanks for the helpful information about both of those sites.  It may not be a lot of information, but it's the kind that I care about.  The rest of the things that I need to know can be found on the site.  I checked both out, I'm gonna give them a try and see how I can do.  On an estimate, about how much can you make from this per month?

Thank you all for your helpful posts. The Workersonboardtalk.com forum is turning out to be a better goldmine than I initial thought it would be. It is amazing how after looking for work online for over a year, I have never heard of 90% of this transcription sites.
I really need to sit down and read EVERY SINGLE POST in this forum.  :)
Lolz...maybe we are on the same boat..but i had this instance occur to me a couple of months back.I now have a steady flow of income, though its kinda grey hat.
Also abt Speechpad..can u brief me more..on what you do and the pay rates.Looks interesting..:P

It seems that Scriptworkers is the best transcription site.  The pay at Transcribe Me is handsome too but it may be difficult to pass the examinations and not much job is available.  I think my best bet is Scriptworkers.

I work with Speechpad, TranscribeMe and Mturk. Those are really the best ones for beginners since they don't require any special software or equipment. The pay varies on all of them, but I enjoy the work very much.
