Selling old clothes and items I don't need would certainly work and give me an okay source of additional income but I'm too sentimental. I value lots of things even the ones that don't serve any purpose. I can sell books and clothes I don't like, though, so perhaps I can give this money-making venture a shot. I can

We used to sell a lot of stuff on eBay.  Everything from old magazines and other nickle/dime stuff all the way up to collectable, exotic cars.  We had lots of success until the last few years, but now there are so many eBay Stores and they've changed their rules so much.  They recently changed the rules so that the buyer has up to 6 months to claim they are dissatisfied with the purchase, and the seller is required to refund their money.  Just not something I want to do anymore.

Has anyone else had good experience with other websites?  We'd love to find another one.

Um wow up to 6 months seems very, very wrong. I am surprised I am saying this as I am a consumer. But I mean that is just asking online stores to lose money! And let's face it most of us do what we do online to make money not lose it :(. Sorry to hear that. I was thinking of selling old stuff kicking around on Ebay but that 6 month thing makes me nervous.

I have signed up with a variety of sites that sell used items including Etsy and Ebay but I have never brought myself to sell items using these sites. I consider the process of shipping the products to the destination as well as the attendant transactions a bit daunting. One site which has a local franchise is Olx and would consider using it in future since the logistics involved are less daunting. Selling the goods in the flourishing offline market would be more convenient for me. Nevertheless, I would consider these sites for shopping more easily.

I have not yet experience selling my old clothing/items either on a garage sale or through online. If I had clothes that I seldom use and is still in good condition instead of selling it I will just give it to those who are in need of clothing. I love the idea of just donating my clothing to the needy.

I have made a ton of money selling on Ebay! I love it and its actually a bit addictive. Ive sold clothing that my children have outgrown, books that i pick up at yard sales, and even old costume jewelry. It seems like there's a market for anything on there.

Well this first that jumped into my mind was learning of the new store in town when I was younger, called Plato's Closet, who bought used clothes.  I remember thinking that this was my solution to being broke, and I took in a whole box full of pretty decent clothes, and I think I walked out with about 8 dollars.  That said, while there may be some good opportunities out there, just make sure you do your homework beforehand and make sure it is actually worth it.

There is a visiting offline market for second hand clothes here in Kenya only that you have to sell them well outside your locality where you are likely to identify them on customers. A good site for selling other items is Olx where I have tried to sell some services.

If we have a lot of clothes selling our old ones can be a good source of income, but I don't have many clothes, so whenever there is something I don't use, I usually make a donation. Living in a small house makes that I don't have many items to sell too, but overall it's a great concept of course.

This really an amazing idea to consume the things and clothes that you don't use anymore. I have thousand of shirts and jeans in brand new condition that i don't use to wear. I need to sell my old bed and chairs too.

Can you tell me about the best places to sell these things where we can get best prices and instant payout without any kind of scam?

Haha, gotta love how you ask for best prices and instant payout. :) I suppose ebay is the best known platform, and it's a reliable one, so maybe you can try there? Depending on your locations there might be other sites too.

Oh god, I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to clothing and other things. I still have clothes from when I was like 12 years old, haha. I don't know why since I know that these things just sit in my closets and literally have no value to me. I just find it hard of letting it go? it seems silly but it's the truth.

I do have to get rid of it though. I've been meaning to do for over a year now but it's easy to put it off. I imagine very old clothes won't sell for a lot but I have hundreds of different clothing items so altogether might net quite some extra cash.

I've heard Ebay is really good for this type of sales - we also have some local mobile app where you can just upload pictures of the things you want to sell and then people can contact you. Thank you for reminding me about this!

I have sold my books, especially old text books, and made some money. However, I have never sold clothes. I don't think there is a market here for selling old clothes. I can sell my old furniture, books and electronic items, there are shops who specializes on buying andd reselling of things, but I have never heard of anyone buying old clothes and then selling to customers. When my clothes get old and when they are still wearable, I donate my clothes to poor people. I recycle my too old clothes and make mattress.
