It depends on the type of work the client is asking me to do and how much money he/she is willing to pay me. Well, I am fine with spending quite a good amount of time on a Fiverr gig if the price is right. :)

For most of the active gigs that require to make something fresh, I will work from 15 to 30 minutes.  But for the less active gigs, like converting a file into a pdf.  One conversion took three hours, but I didn't have to actively do anything.  So, I could do five of those at a time and work on one active gig.  I finished my ten active gigs and sent them in by the time the conversion were done in under three hours.

The only gig I have that I call less-active is my book review gig (for an honest review only, though they can choose whether and where I post it). In that case, I only accept books in genres that I already enjoy reading so I don't count the reading time as part of the gig. I only count writing the review and posting it.

I like the idea of having gigs that you can start and then let them run in the background. I think I would only count the time it took me to start it, finish it, and upload it as "working time." I wish I had more like that.

I got some free kindle books on this, so check if any are available to read up on some tips. I'm pretty sure they recommended spending the least amount of time possible on each task. It's awesome and I admire the fact that people can actually spend so little time on a task and earn $5. I just can't seem to work this fast on anything! Also, you may have to consider that some people are living outside in the US, so $5 may be worth 1 hour or more for them where salaries and cost of life are lower. I also noticed most of the top rated people only really deliver a final finish product by adding the extras, so the minimum they want to earn is usually I think around $25 (or whatever the max. is). Like for example, they'll sell you a black and white sketch for $5, $5 to add color, $5 for a background, $5 for a "faster" delivery and another $5 for the original file or hi-res file. So, that helps.

The good thing about Fiverr is that though the gig price is low, you can get a good rating and market gigs in the same site with higher payment. There is this option on Fiverr. Otherwise, most people revert to Fiverr when they don't have work elsewhere which means that they lose out on potential clients. I suppose its good to overlook the money aspect first and build visibility and a good rating before going for higher saying options. Some clients have regular work and might settle for your services.
