Easy to use affiliates OTHER than Amazon?
« on: May 14, 2015, 09:32:11 AM »
I have earned some money by having blogs that occasionally post an amazon affiliate link.  Not a lot of money but I liked writing the blogs so it was worth the effort.

I'd like to branch out and try some other affiliate programs.  Can anyone recommend one that's easy to use and effective?

I haven't yet had any success with Amazon, though I've marketed a few products. But more recently I signed up for Clickbank. It seems relatively easy to sign up for. I watched the tutorial videos they have on there and that gives a lot of good guidance. That said, I haven't made any money from it yet though it's still early days.

I'm actually trying to get back into some Amazon affiliate marketing, after my failed attempt a few years ago with setting up an e-commerce store selling horror DVDs (which was basically all linking to Amazon pages for those DVDs). This time around I've done a lot more research, and I'm armed with a lot more software and Wordpress plugins and themes to help me build a much more substantial site.

The thing with Amazon that's particularly appealing is that you can get commissions from other purchases a user makes, simply because you referred them to Amazon in some window of time. So if your site is about kitchen appliances, and they click through on a link from your site about a cheese grater for sale on Amazon for like $15, and that user also ends up purchasing a new freezer on there for $700 as well, you get a percent based commission on that freezer sale too. In fact, if they add some products to the cart on Amazon, that cookie window goes up to three months. Though I don't know how it works out if they come back to Amazon from some other affiliate links in the meantime.

OhioTom76 I don't know where you got your information about three months on a cookie window.  As stated in the updated October 30, 2015 operating agreement, the cookie window is 24 hours.

How long do visitors have to add an item to their Shopping Cart after clicking on one of my Amazon links until I no longer earn advertising fees on their purchase?

In most cases, you earn advertising fees for visitors that come to an Amazon site and place any qualifying items in a customer's Shopping Cart within 24 hours of their arrival at most Amazon.com sites.

I am not qualified for the Amazon affiliate thing because of my geographic location. I was also thinking about Clickbank for a long time but I heard some feedback about hitting certain numbers in order to benefit from the system. Is that true? Will you be charged a certain amount if you do not make a sale in a given time frame?
