I don't buy new physical copies of books anymore. If I can't get it in digital format, I might borrow it from the local library or see if a used bookshop has it very cheap. If not, I skip it. An e-reader can't compare to the tactile feel of real books but real books can't beat the convenience for me.

An e-book is practical to have. You can even share with your friends. I love reading books but I hate it after a few years when they turn powdery and moldy. I have a mild asthma and old books will surely trigger an attack so I am good with e-books.

If you are dreaming to become an author, publishing ebooks will make your dream come true. To publish an ebook all you need a manuscript. If you have a manuscript, you can publish your books with various ebook publishers. Good thing about publishing ebooks  it is free. However, if you are looking for a recognizance as an author, you need to be published on paper back from a traditional publisher.

I don't know if you're still required to get a paperback book to be admired by your peers.  I they don't sell, you'll just have a stack of your books taking up spacing your house.  E-books are much more the norm with everyone having a tablet or kindle on hand.  I think it's great to have a promotion of a couple free pages of an e-book that allows them to decide to buy the book or not.  If you can sell both, that's great, but there is nothing wrong with making a living selling ebooks.
