I have been having to give up a lot of the survey work I used to do in order to concentrate on writing. I did not mind doing this in the least because I do not like taking so many surveys. Writing expresses my creativity and I such more enjoyable.

I ended up giving up a lot of other low-paying online things for more writing, too... I usually choose writing that isn't going to take extensive research because that's important to me.

If I do the heavy research, I would need to be paid a decent amount... and fortunately most of the places that require the research know this and don't mind paying what the article is worth.

I am just along to say I hope you find a way to organise your time so you can get more in and fill the demand. I don't know if the work pays enough that you can get help from somewhere like Fiverr. It's not something I have done but I have read that some get help there. In my own case, I can't write if there is a lot of stuff going on in my life. I have trouble focusing because of distractions so for me getting rid of distractions would help. I would also be curious to know where it is that you can actually sell your work so quickly if that is something you can share.

How does one pick and choose what articles to write? How and where do you advertise these articles?

This entire concept is very new to me and I would love to figure out how to go about doing this.

How does one pick and choose what articles to write? How and where do you advertise these articles?

For the first part, the biggest piece of advice I've always heard (and tried to follow) over the years was to write about what you know.  Don't try to fake it, or think you can just research it quickly and crank an article out because publishers and editors always know no matter how much the lack of knowledge in a topic is disguised.

Now, that's for the freelance writing that I do... I hope someone else will give pointers on web content writing.  My answers would be different because I use my Writer's Market book and calls for articles,  study writer guidelines, and then look for matches of things I can write.

Then I generally submit the articles the old fashioned way and wait for either an acceptance (with payment!  YAY!)  or a rejection letter.

For the second part of your question, because of the way I do my work, I don't need to advertise it at all... I just make my submissions.

I am a writer to the core.  I communicate better when I write and I feel it is much more healthier sometimes to write down your depth and feelings.  I think because I have so many thoughts in my head and have had many successes with writing in the past this is a great market to be in.  I just have not gotten my feet wet entirely and hope that I will somehow find a good writing gig online or be able to sell my writing pieces.  This would be ideal for me.

Okay so what do you write about and where do you get your topics?  I have been looking for a legit site to post articles, but it is so hard to trust certain sites.  Plagiarism is really big in our world, people will take your hard earned work without even batting an eye.

I was introduced to online writing in 2004, I began writing online in 2010, and began making money only in 2012.  I have written over 1000 long articles fro various writing sites, and over 3000 short posts for many social blogging sites. I wrote 2300 posts for Bubblews alone.
I have written more than 4000 posts on postloop alone.

I changed up the routine a bit and have been getting up early in the morning to do my writing. Some days I am done by noon and can just quit working for the rest of the day or move on to other things like taking a few surveys or doing some forum posting. Now that the weather is getting better, I am much more inclined just to go have fun with the rest of my day.

I have a different problem. I can write too many contents but I cannot find market for my articles. I am on writing sites, social blogging sites and freelancer sites. I even write on newspapers. However, I get too many rejections. I think I have over 1000 unpublished articles.

Where do you sell? You seem to have a great market there. I never seem to be able to get all I want done in one day and I hate that. writing takes a lot out of you, but when you can sit back at the end of the day and say... "Wow... I've done it! I got it all done!' then that's just a great feeling. I want to earn more so I can write less within a day. Get myself some more mental break time.

For me, I do more team orders and direct orders on Textbroker now. Once you join some teams, you have more opportunities there to make higher price per word. And for direct orders, you set your own price. Once you have a really good reputation on there, you will start seeing occasional direct orders.

Constant-Content is also great. This site allows you to write about anything you want and upload your articles. They go through editorial, and if they pass they go up for sale. You set your own prices, and they take a cut. You don't guarantee that you will sell what you write, but when you do, you will make a far better wage at this site. I have sold a few here. The only reason I haven't sold more is because I haven't had the dedication to put into writing more articles for them lately.

I would love to one day just write and sell my articles and stories just like @Rosyrain. For now, I am writing for a web content site and I'm just grabbing available projects to work on. I would then submit it within 24 hours. For ebooks, there are longer deadlines but I have to submit partial work every 24 hours. The advantage of such an arrangement is that I am assured of being paid after the article/ebook has been approved by the editor. The disadvantage is, I don't get to choose the topic as I can only choose from among available projects.

If I can respond to the original post.

If you are selling your work as soon as you post it you might want to look at increasing the asking price. If you already have a good reputation and regular buyers they should not be too unhappy about you charging more.

One big thing to remember and this is for all content writers out there. If you sell your work you immediately sell the rights to that work. You can never use it again and in some cases you are not even allowed to use it as a reference for future work. If you want to sell and keep selling your work might I suggest starting a small blog to showcase some of your work. It does not have to be about anything in particular, but can just be a place to show off/ advertise your writing skills.

I have applied for work with some of the sites that offer a steady paycheck and I have found it very helpful to be able to point them to some of my previous articles. You can also request that your client shares the link of where they are posting your work. This wy you can use it as a reference even if you do not own the rights to it.

Yes, it has happened to me to. I usually raise the price, till I achieve order and cost balance and the workload is manageable, this ensures that I am able to earn maximum according to the time which I give in.

If the articles which you write are of good quality, people would be willing to pay more and therefore, there would be no problem for you in earning more as well.

So simply, increases the prices in small increments and see what happens.

I have not really launched into full article writing but I have the intent of starting a blog since its a good shot at passive income in the long term. I find long article writing a bit taxing but I am headed in that direction. If the assignments keep selling out as soon as you write them, do your maths, be your own master and work at your own pace by launching fully into writing. How about contracting others to assist in some of the writing tasks?
