iBotta in recent months
« on: September 22, 2015, 11:49:19 AM »
I don't know if the promotions were vamped up for the summer, but I have made killer money in recent months. A lot of the really good deals are alcohol related, so if a person doesn't drink, they might not have found as many rebates as me. I had some weeks I was getting $10.00 back. That includes groceries. The other nice aspect was that they put the same rebate back 2-3, and sometimes even 4 times. How has your luck been with iBotta this summer?

I have no luck with iBotta but after reading your success with it, I might give it another go. I am allergic to alcohol, so this deal is out, but if I can get some rebate on other groceries, it is a fantastic deal. Congrats on your success with it!

I've been neglecting Ibotta lately. I don't drink, so the alcohol deals would not have worked for me. I'm guessing there will be a lot of offers with the holidays coming up and I bet they'll have a few offers related to baking. That's something I will definitely take advantage of. Glad to hear the you had such a great summer with Ibotta.

Yes! During certain times of the year, there are some incredible deals. I don't want to make it sound like it's all surrounding alcohol, because it isn't. There are plenty of other opportunities out there. There are also non-grocery items and discounts. Best Buy often has a deal if you spend at least $100 they give you $10 back, which is easy enough to do there.

I wanted to update this. Now that summer is done, the decent deals have really dried up. Even some of the good deals on alcohol are gone. I check it about once a week now, since more than that has been a waste of time. I am hoping they start back up with their previous grandeur when the holidays roll around. It is a great way to make money WHEN they have good deals.

I personally don't drink alcohol and I still cash out every week on Ibotta. I use up almost all the any brand offers along with my couponing and I come out ahead most of the time. There have also been times that I bought some items just because there was a cash back offer on them. For instance, I never ate Choboni yogurt before until the awesome rebate Ibotta had on them awhile back. Im now hooked on them and buy them quite a bit. I also have referred quite a few people to my team so seeing them save daily is a big plus. I use my Ibotta to cash out with Wal-Mart giftcards to put back towards groceries again. It is a win win app for me.

I also use iBotta in conjunction with coupons, and other deals. But I have been trying to use everything I can that isn't alcohol-related, and it is a lot of name brand, or high-priced stuff that just isn't worth purchasing. If you haven't been using it as long as me (a year), it is possible you are getting better deals than I am. It is not all the same for each individual.

I think I like this app better than I do Checkout51.  There seems to be more of a variety of rebates available.  I've been doing Checkout51 for a YEAR and I still have not reached payout level yet.  Sigh...

Ibotta has many more rebates available, which I hope will pay off eventually.

I used Checkout51 for about 2 months. The offers were irrelevant to me, and the few I did use never earned me a payout. I do sometimes hang on, if the app is low-level work (such as Receipt Hog, which took me 9 months to make $20), but Checkout51 is just too much work. I will hold on and hope iBotta ups their game at the Christmas season.

I just started using it but had a lot of luck on black Friday.  I did notice there is a lot of alcohol on the site.  I don't drink much but it will persuade me to purchase one variety of wine over another when shopping for it.  I also notice their lack of produce on the site.  There are very few options for fruits and veggies which is disappointing to me.

Oh okay I get it..ibotta...i bought a...now that is creative.  How cool is the name of this site and then what it awards is great and very useful.  I have not actually signed up but sounds like a great deal.  I wanted to get involved with coupon clipping and other money saving efforts.  These clubs online are an easy way to do that it seems.

I have heard so many good things about Ibotta and all of the bloggers love it, but it is just not for me.  I do not buy  lot of name brands for me to get any rebate. I buy a lot of generics!  :P

I have made about $30 from Ibotta since I downloaded the app in January. I find that I do not buy many name brand products and because those are the items with the most cash back, I don't usually have items that apply. I do get 50 cents here and there from the "any brand" items, but not as often as I would like. I do drink alcohol, but I am fairly picky about the type of alcohol that I buy and the alcoholic beverages that Ibotta has with rebates I don't typically drink. I will keep it though because it really takes minimal time so it doesn't bother me that I don't get a huge payout.

Once again I want to update this thread. Over the course of April I have made about $70 (some of it with bonuses)! This is the best month I have ever had on the app. 60% of the rebates they have offered lately are things I regularly buy anyway. The others were name brands, but with the discounts they ended up being no more than generics, with better products. This gives me the chance to try things I would never buy, and might start buying in the future, which I am sure is their intention. To date my lifetime earnings are $325.00 in about an 18 month period.

My success with Ibotta is hit or miss, mostly because I do not generally buy name brand products. They don't have many options for produce, which is sad. It seems to encourage a lot of processed foods. I wish they would have more "any brand" options, as well. I have earned about $53 in about 6 months.
