Follow the rules of each and every forum you are subscribed to especially the ratio of creating a new topic with the comments you make. I think most owners are very particular with that. It is not enough that you write a lengthy post with good grammar some owners may just decide to give a low rating for no obvious reason

@Buster, so sorry to hear about what you've been going through! We've all been there at one point or another. I agree with most of the comments here on what you can do going forward. Because I also believe strongly that you can and will still get low ratings no matter how well you write, I've become very, very wary of joining any new forums. I only have about 5-6 forums at the moment, and I refuse to join any of the new ones for fear of receiving a low rating, which will then bring down my overall rating.

I also choose my forums very wisely. I avoid all of the ones with long winded and never ending rules like the plague. You can always tell the sort of person the forum owner is, just go with your gut :)

Don't assume that everyone has the same rules on their forums. Some people have specifics. I don't agree with some of these, and I learned the hard way if a rule seems unfair or too much work, I should have left. But I didn't, and I ended up with an extremely low rating. This happened to me twice. So, don't feel too bad, I was under bonus level both times, but it doesn't take that long to bounce back.

All I can advise you is to write lengthy and elaborate posts. Short posts are a big no-no. And make posts with substance, I see some threads that ask some mundane or shallow questions, it's obvious that the writer is a teen or someting, lol.

Click on the little blue "i" symbol and read what they are looking for and their rules. If they have a list of specific rules then try to follow them. Make sure it is a topic you know or are at least interested in knowing. You only get 5 cents per post, so Postloop is only worth it, if you are talking about something you like, or learning about something you are interested in. Postloop is not a way to make big bucks, or even a living. It's just a way to make a few dollars a month talking about stuff you are into. That being said some people try to pump out the posts to make as much as possible, but they get nailed in the end with ratings and will not be able to cash out, as you have to have a better than average rating to cash out.

I feel you. However, ever since I joined Postloop, one thing keeps happening to me. A forum that's really good for me, as in perfect alignment with my tastes closes after I was only able to make several posts and they don't open for a while, some have never re-opened. That's really frustrating. I am usually able to rack in $3-$5 a day and it kinda stinks when I get bellow $0.50 on some days because some forums aren't open anymore. I'm very careful in following the rules as well, so low ratings are extra frustrating.

Sadly, that's the nature of the beast, so to speak, @buster. When I first started, I had about 16 forums at one point, now I'm down to about 6-7, depending on how many decide to show up from one day to the next. I like most of those ones, and just try to plod along with them. I keep checking for new ones so as to boost my earnings, but each time I end up walking away without subscribing to them because a lot of the new ones I find are very rigid and strict, which will almost certainly give me a substandard rating. So rather than risk my rating, I just stick to the few I have. It may take me longer to earn, but at least I don't run the risk of being scored low, which could could ultimately mean I can't cash out because of a low score that puts me below the average standard. It's a nightmare!

I try to limit or avoid posting on the forums that I know would give me a poor rating and focus on those that I think I have the chance to get a better score. I try to be selective with the kind of forums now if I do not have a genuine liking of the forum I will seldom or will not post anymore on it.

Yeah, that's rough, but like you said, that's the nature of the beast. I was luckily never close to dropping below average rating, but I haven't been getting a rating for a while now. I'm not too worried though, I only had one slip below a 4.0 and that was a solid. 3.8.

@buster....yes, it would appear 3.5-3.9 is the new high. Most forum owners seem to stick with that range and feel by so doing, they are doing you a favour. I remember back when we used to think 4 was low because we were all getting in the range of 4.5-5, when this new trend started and people were going to Ryan with it, he said that those scores were perfectly good. Clearly he's looking at his business and would rather not have too many people scoring 5. He's even been known to have stern words with and threaten to ban forum owners who regularly award high scores!

The same thing happened to me. When I started out with them I was at over 4 points but with time it started reducing.
Just like someone rightly said, the thing is to concentrate on writing quality and lengthy post. This I think will solve that issue. That is what I have decided to do for a better ratings from them

I agree that is what the owner wants, but it's not always easy to do. Sometimes you can make a really good point, or bring up an important or interesting tidbit to the topic...and it doesn't need 4 paragraphs to do so. Sometimes just a couple of sentences is all that is needed, otherwise you are just repeating and junk writing what was already stated.

Unfortunately, the owners don't like to look at a shorter posts that makes an important point or adds to the topic. They like to look at the length even if its filled with a lot of fluff.

One thing I have gotten in the habit of that seems to help my ratings is that I click the little "i" information button in the postloop dashboard to double-check the forum information before going to the site. Some forum owners change them as their needs change and get upset if you don't notice the change.
This is a great idea!! I'm definitely going to start doing this since I haven't clicked the information button since I first subscribed to a site, and I couldn't tell you what the each owner is expecting from me.

You know what, I must admit I've never once gone back to check those rules! I can now see that it's very risky not to keep checking over time, in case some rules change. So I'll also have to get with the programme and keep checking to stay on top of the rules and guidelines.

I always try to add information or ask questions in threads I post in. I also try to make sure I write a few sentences at least, without going overboard too much. I like to write though so I find I have to stop myself sometimes!

I always go back and check the rules to make sure they've not been changed as well. I've been caught out by this a couple of times, although luckily those forums actually did update my PL rating.

If the rules are something I don't agree with or feel able to comply with then generally I won't join a site. I've made that mistake a few times. "Only one new thread, ever" being one I've accidentally failed at a few times. I forgot about the one thread rule and having to reply only, and subsequently got booted out. It just seems as though when there are no new threads and the old ones are exhausted that you end up getting repetitive. So at that point I tend to quit those forums to avoid getting a negative rating.
