Has anyone tried NiceTalk?
« on: January 07, 2016, 05:00:24 PM »
I heard about something called NiceTalk that you earn money (about $9 an hour) for talking to Chinese students on the phone. From what I've heard about it, it sounds great and easy. Some of them have great English. Has anyone here tried it or heard anything about it?

Haven't tried this, although I did try some other tutoring apps. Basically, not a lot of them are available outside of the US and those that are are very strict with their demands. I once found one that took me about an hour to set up a profile and record a message to encourage students to pick me as their tutor and it took them days to respond without even saying that why they didn't hire me. Bummer.

that sounds like a winner. I will definetly look at that site because it sounds like something that could be useful. I would like to do something like that. I once was going to tutor Chinese students in conversational English...but I didn't meet the technical requirements. it was one of the problems that we with bad internet face.

I just did a google search, and nicetalk is currently not accepting any applicants, so I guess their staff is full already.

Sounds like a fantastic opportunity to make money, but it also raises lot of questions for me. Such as, are these Chinese people living in the US? If they are then the phone charges won't be astronomical but if they are not, international phone charges will be way over the amount of money that you would get paid.

I don't have international call coverage, so this would not be feasible for me.

No. I have not tried this one yet, and this is actually the first time I have heard about NiceTalk. Well, it does sound like a good online opportunity. Wow, you will get paid just by talking to Chinese people in English. That's real easy. I don't know if their requirements would also be that easy though.

Yes, I have heard of this before, though I haven't used it. I do work as a freelance English teacher though, and my students pay me 10 per hour to chat to me on Skype. The best thing is that because it is only general conversation I can also do my other freelance writing work (such as PostLoop) whilst chatting, meaning that I earn even more for it.

I'd never heard of Nicetalk before today. I had a look at the site, and it looks great. It's definitely something that interests me, and I can see myself doing it. I think you could do it via Skype as opposed to the telephone. However, one of the requirements is very high speed internet, which I think would be one of my downfalls :( I'll have to see looking into it. Thanks for sharing :)

I have never heard of NiceTalk. It sounds like a great opportunity. I would have loved to have tried it but now I am home schooling and there's not a second of quiet in my house! Unfortunately that makes it impossible to do phone jobs.

I haven't heard of this company before. I searched for it and apparently the app only works on phone. Correct me if I'm wrong guys? So this won't work on laptops? It's too bad because it seems a promising way of making money.

That sounds like a great and fun service. I am wondering if people can chat through skype since usually long distance cost some money.

I think this kind of site will be very suitable for you if you're a native English speaker. If you're not quite fluent or have a bit of an accent, you might have problem getting approved to work with them. You'll also need a webcam so if you're camera shy, this might not be for you.

Do you mind my asking on what company or website you're working for? My daughter would love to do something like this through Skype. She is currently looking for work at home, and this would be a great way to start out.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for pointing this out @Riggy !

This sort of company sounds like it would be a great opportunity. I've always been curious about teaching English as a second language.

Please if anyone has heard of any opportunities like this, I'd love to hear them! I've heard that people can do online tutoring over Skype, but I thought that was mostly video chat? Sounds like it could be fun as well as rewarding though!
