For many years, I have had Avon (and Mary Kay) reps try to enlist me as a seller.  However, I have always been reluctant.  I worry that turning a profit selling this profit would involve more work than just going to a 9 to 5 or doing some other at-home gig.

Can you Avon aficionados comment on how long you had to sell your product before turning a decent profit?

I did avon for nearly two years without much of a profit. I was constantly breaking even and never making any real money, except for the first month when they gave me 20% of my sales.

Unfortunately, I was never able to earn a real profit either. I gave it a try years ago, and lasted maybe 6 months - 1 year.

I would probably make $30-50/month, and would use a portion of that to buy more books/supplies. The rest, I spent on Avon products for myself. So, it wasn't worth it.

I wish it would have worked out because I enjoyed it!

I signed up on Avon last year and just become active for the first three months. Mostly that I have sold were to my friends and some items I have bought were for personal use.
I have not really earned some good amount of it since I do not have lots of customers and I do not dedicate my time on it.

I never made a decent profit with Avon.  I think you have to sell a lot to make a good income with Avon or have to have a good amount of people who signed up under you. It also depends on networking and your social circle. I started off doing well but once the truth as to Avon s animal testing came out and the lack of clarity regarding how many Avon products sold in china do get tested more than in the USA and are permitted to be tested on Animals.  From an ethical and moral standard many feel that Avon should not sell in China if the truly care to be cruelty free.

It sounds like Avon may not be worth the time or the trouble to sell. I used to know someone who tried and really tried to sell Amway, but I think he gave up trying to make big money on the products. Everything sounds good in theory until you try to put it to use.
