Affiliate Marketing For the Newbies
« on: January 27, 2016, 01:19:13 PM »
I am looking into really digging my nails into affiliate marketing. It seems the best way to monetize my blog and it could compliment my content as well. My blog focuses on education people about polyamory. So finding affiliates who have materials related to my topic or materials that provide further education, could be very profitable.

Anyway, I came across a short thread here 'Why Affiliate Marketing is Hard,' and it got me thinking. What are some tips or things you wish you had known when you started with Affiliate Marketing? What are some resources you would suggest a newbie to Affiliate Marketing read?

I haven't had any success with affiliate marketing myself, but I will be interested in reading the responses to your discussion. It seems like something that many of the people who read and respond on this forum, have had or do have experience with. It is just something that many of us might want to use in our future.

I have noticed that, too. I really want to get into it, and I have read that there a ton of resources online for how to really make bank with it. But I like to start small and get advice from other users before diving into a book or something of the like to dig up information for myself.

I had a little experience with affiliated marketing on my blogs before, but it wasn't anything specific or fruitful for me. All my blogs have Google page rank 3, good amount of traffic, and followers with interaction from readers.

It really is depending on where your blog is place in the cyberspace, and if it has been established. I started with keywords placing inside my content. Usually, advertisers required your blog to be at least three months old and a certain amount of posts. It should also get a decent Google page rank, and a good number with Alexa ranking.

It is really hard to break into that market unless you have one of the top 10 blogs.

yeah, I know there are many people who make money with affiliate marketing on their blogs, but my blog is not even active right now. I guess I just don't have the dedication you need to really make money on a blog. I think it has to be something people really want, and you have to be really dedicated to do well with it. I mean if I was promoting my blog all the time...I am sure I could get more readers, but you have to go beyond that and really get people to click on links. That is a whole new level!

Google has also stopped doing the page rank for years now, so I can't get my blogs on the ladder. Just out of curiosity, did you blog have a page rank?

I am not active on my blogs either since my page rank got stuck! There is no way I can get work for them. All my clients and third party sites have also dying out.

There are still a lot of resources that can assist you with ranking your web page. I would invest my time in SEO if I was you. Get your keywords up and promote your blog as much as possible. I write articles for free for a parenting website in turn they have a link to my blog on their site. I also personally negotiated with certain sites in order to get affiliates. Try and stay clear of just amazon or google.

There are a lot of tricks that you can use to get more traffic to your site as well. The important thing is to keep the site relevant and up to date. Let us know what you discover.
