Would you like to open a shop on Bonanza Market?
« on: February 04, 2016, 10:04:37 AM »
Here are 10 reasons to sell on Bonanza (I sell about an equal amount on Bonanza and Etsy, but I make more money on Bonanza, because there are no listing fees)

It is absolutely free to list an item.
The 3.5% fee on all standard sales is lower than Amazon or eBay.
    Easy inventory management.
Synchronize your inventory with other marketplaces.
    Great customer support.
    The Background Burner.
Publish items on shopping sites all across the internet.
Boost traffic to your booth with TurboTraffic.
Open your own branded storefront with Bonanza Webstores.
Bonanza listens to feedback from real sellers.

Honestly, I have never heard of Bonanza Market before, but thanks for letting us know about this site. I don't have any plans of opening an online shop in the near future, but I will definitely keep this in mind.

I looked at it since you told me about this a while back and I will use your referral link as I am helping other people sell items online. I like the idea there is no listing fee, and it's worldwide. Thanks for this, but I still need time to set things up.

Wow, I never heard of it. I will check it out. I have been thinking of selling some hand crafted mugs online, but looking a the competition on Etsy I decided that would essentially be a waste of time. I do possibly have other things I could sell as well. I will use your referral link if I decide to sell on there. Thanks!

I have heard of Bonanza before, but haven't even thought of open a store. The information sounds interesting and I like that there is no listing fee. Thanks for sharing.

First time I hear of Bonanza Market, but I visited the site and it looks pretty decent. It's always good to hear about alternative stores to etsy and eBay. It gives sellers more opportunities to sell their products and buyers more options. I may give this one a try later on in the year. Anyway, thanks for the great share!  :)

I too never heard of Bonanza Market, but it sure sounds good! If i were still interested in online selling, it would definitely be something I'd consider. I like the fact that they offer free listing, it's very appealing. However, I have so much going on at the moment, I simply don't have the time. I wish you all the best with your store, @DianeLane, and thanks for sharing :)

I must check this site out. I'm always on the lookout for etsy and ebay alternatives. Hopefully I'll be able to sell my crafts during the holiday season.

I think I have heard of Bonanza before but have never checked it out. I will have to check into it now since I am getting frustrated with eBay and buyers who do not like to pay in a timely manner. Plus, the fees are getting to be ridiculous and I am not making as much money as I used to even though I do not have listing fees.  Some of the features sound really appealing such as the background burner.  Do you have to have a store or is it like eBay and you can just sell without one? Thanks for sharing this.

I've been on the site since 2008, and co-market with a few others there that I brought to the site. What I do is leave my items sitting there, since there are no fees. Occasionally, I'll list one of the items on eBay, and some are cross-listed on Etsy. Etsy and eBay both charge listing fees, though, so I pick and choose what to list on those sites.

Bonanza is a very low stress site, and it's a good place to start out. I don't market my Bonanza shop nearly as much as my Etsy shop (or the others I've had elsewhere), but I make about as many sales on Bonanza as I have elsewhere. There are now apps for both iOS and Android, so that's particularly helpful, since I'm often on the tablet, rather than the desktop.

If y'all do open stores there, let me know if you have any questions, and I'll try to help if I can. I rarely pay final value fees for what I sell there, because they have a little incentive thing sellers can do on a daily basis to earn points that can be used to defray fees.

@morgoodie They have several options. I have a free shop. It used to be called a booth, but nowadays, I think it's considered a shop. It's free to open, and there are no listing fees. If you build your shop up and it starts becoming profitable, and you want to expand, you can look into the pay options, but you don't need to worry about those in the beginning. Can you please explain the background burner thing to me? I'm not a very techy person, and that and the widgets really confuses me. A lot of people have migrated to Bonanza from eBay. I have two friends I've gotten swapped over, and they much prefer no listing fees. The final value fee is around the same, or perhaps a little lower, but FVFs are pretty consistent regardless of which site you're on, so to me, the listing fees is the killer.

@DianeLane  I am not a tech person either, but from my understanding it takes the background of your picture and just makes it plain so that if you have other things in the background it takes them out so only your product is in the picture and makes them look more professional. I do not know what you have to do.  On eBay, I do not pay a listing fee for up to  50 items per month and a couple of times they have sent me a promotion to list up 1000 items free for a limited time. I do not have a store with them though but this is something that I would like to look into doing. The final value fees is what is killing me and the paypal fees too. I made $250 and had to pay eBay $30 for fees. Not to mention it was probably the same fees for Paypal. I would be interested in Bonanza if as you say that they have promotions that sellers can do to get rid of the FVF. That would save me some money. If I do, I will sign up under your link. Thanks for the help

I hadn't heard of Bonanza Market before, but a couple of things really won me over!

It is absolutely free to list an item (I hate when places charge you simply to put your item up for sale!)

The 3.5% fee on all standard sales is lower than Amazon or eBay. (This really does add up!)

Were your Ebay fees for all of the items you listed or for one item?  Thank you for sharing this.  I have been wondering just how much the fees bite out of profits on Ebay.

Thanks @morgoodie, I had a feeling that was what the background burner meant, but I wasn't quite sure. I might have to play around with that when I get some time, to see if I like how the pictures come out. The interesting thing is, a lot of people are now purchasing backgrounds for use with their sales photos, so I'm not sure if the burner would remove that background, or if it would simply remove extraneous items that I often have to crop out, since I don't have a dedicated workshop.

If you sold a lot, you would probably still end up paying some fees, but if you sell items now and then, the way I do, you could probably defray those fees with the freebie points they give you. But, if you ended up going well with sales on Bonanza, you could step up to an actual shop, and the benefits might outweigh the monthly cost. I always start any place with the free option, since I'm not a high volume seller.

@MrsJones The fee was for the all the items that I sold on eBay. I guess it was not too bad since I still ended up with more money than I had by not selling them. It just depends on what you are selling. Some of the things I have sold I was actually surprised that I got what I got for them.

@DianeLane I tried the background burner on one of my items and I did not like it. I used it on a picture of a necklace and the background surrounding the necklace was still the same but the rest of it was white. So I guess this just works on items like clothing or something. I have not heard about buying backgrounds for the pictures and do not think that I would do that unless I had a store. I do not sell high volume either and that is why I like free places to sell on. I have not had any activity on my items so is there something that you suggest? Do you use any of the advertising they have available?
