Avon Vs. Younique
« on: March 08, 2016, 03:24:52 AM »
Avon is probably one of the best known makeup companies and it seems like Younique is becoming almost just as popular! In a sense, dare I say it, Younique seems to be the modern day Avon. A lot of women are becoming Younique makeup reps and their company is growing insanely fast.
I personally do not sell either, but I have friends that do. I see more people on social media talking about Younique than Avon. Is it because Avon still keeps to more traditional methods and most reps don't promote on social media platforms? Honestly, I don't know.
Are you a makeup rep for either of these companies? Which one do you prefer?
In what ways do you think they are the same or different?

From what I know Avon sells more than just makeup - but Younique seems strictly makeup based. I have heard a lot lately about Younique from people on Facebook who are selling it, but it's kind of annoying when you're getting spammed by Facebook acquaintances about their mascara or this and that!

The only make up items I bought are eye liner and lipstick. They are from Maybeline and Revlon respectively. Thus as far as make up goes, I don't know much about the products, but Avon is probably still the popular one for my generation. My friend is selling Avon and I haven't even heard of Younique!

It's the same with Arbonne and while I do think it's a way to make money, I don't like to push it on my friends via social media. People always like offers though, so maybe it can help, but I know also you can lose friends too if there is oversharing and promoting.

I wouldn't do either as I have a small circle of friends, plus most people I know like to make their own choices and will ask for a recommendation.

I've never heard of Younique, but I have used Avon in the past. In all honesty, I've never rated Avon products as such. The interesting thing is, I've bought a load shed of stuff that I didn't like in the end. I always wondered why I bought the stuff, maybe because it looked good on paper. I just had a bit of a look on Younique's Facebook page, but it didn't display much. I'd have to see samples of the products, before I committed to a purchase.

I'm familiar with Avon, like everyone else on the planet. I've heard of Younique, particularly on Facebook, but the name bothers me. I'm one of those people who isn't into weird spellings, and for some reason that one in particular bothers me. Also, the pictures I see of many of the sellers (not all) look overly made up, which I find unattractive. I have a few friends who sell Arbonne. I know Arbonne is good quality, because I traded some online promotion for samples so I could try it, but it's expensive, and is out of my budget. I have ordered Avon in the past, and would still consider ordering a few things from them, but I don't buy much in the way of cosmetics these days.

I guess I must be living in a cave, because I am not sure I ever heard of Younique. ;D now that I have, I will have to check it out. I mean I grew up with Avon and Mary Kay, and it something that people of almost any generation can use. I guess Avon is kind of associated with the older set now, and younger people are going to Younique if my read is right. I wonder how easy it is to sell online, because I don't interact with that many offline people to be honest.

Avon has been on my mind a lot lately. I have been thinking about becoming a rep. Even if I don't make a ton of money off of it, every penny counts! I have never heard of Younique and you have definitely peaked my interest. Thanks for the post, I may have never heard of it any other way :)

I'm glad I got to introduce some of you to a new company! Honestly, I didn't know Younique existed until a few friends became representatives. And in that case I did learn about it over Facebook. Younique is basically all about e-commerce and virtual activities and less in-person sales.
I know that the spam was mentioned too. I can definitely agree with this! A good note is to keep your social media pages 80% about you and 20% about your business. You can introduce someone to your makeup business without forcing it on them. I have had people add me just to try to sell me products from their Younique business without even a "Hey, how are you doing?" to break the ice. I have never had anyone from Avon do that, which is definitely a plus.
Product wise, I tried Avon a really long time ago. It was lotion and I still remember that it smelled absolutely amazing. I haven't tried Younique... Yet! The mascara which is their #1 product is starting to build up my curiosity.
