Is MyLot worth it?
« on: March 17, 2016, 04:06:03 AM »
MyLot is basically a site where you can socialize with other people and get paid for it. The more activity you got on your post, the more you will earn. Anyway, I found this site like a week ago and it seems interesting enough for me. But my problem is, I absolutely have no idea what to post. Do any of you have any experience with this site?

I too, have heard of it and many of my friends are on MyLot. I took a look about three days ago, but I am not sure if want to make the commitment since I don't like spending time socializing with others. I am between the decision of whether to join MTurk or MyLot. Personally, Mturk would fit me better because I don't have to spend time socializing with others.

Never heard of this until now. Visited the site and indeed it's hard to understand how to make money. Considering the average pay is 1 cent per minute, seems definitely not worth it!!

In my opinion, it is worth it for those who want to socialize. But not for me. Although I signed up with them but have not been there for years because I don't even know where to start from.

I have an account at MyLot, but I'm not active over there because it's a really slow earner. I hear the pay rate varies, dependent on where you are in the world. But I left because there were many, many times where I wasn't credited AT ALL.

I'm not sure why you 'have absolutely no idea what to post'?? All you have to do is interact with fellow members, in pretty much the same way you're doing here. There's no pressure to initiate new threads, which makes it very easy. As far as I remember, there's not even an indication as to the word count.

I still have an account there from yeeeeaaaaars ago, but no... I don't bother any more. The return is tiny and the old forum-style layout is gone. It's almost impossible to find anything interesting, because it's such a godawful mess of a layout and infested by SO many ads. None of the menu items make any sense, the responses are upside-down, it's almost impossible to see any of the links to do anything and the whole thing flashes ads in your face at every turn.

Basically, it's gone from being a really good, active community where the money was secondary because so much useful info was being shared to a bunch of people posting whatever they want, in series, with no interaction or anything because no one can find anything.

Horrible mess.

I really like MyLot, but I don't go there with the primary intent to make money. It is just a fun place to spend some time. The fact you CAN make money is one of the benefits. I too had an account from years back, and dropped it, but then I heard people on here talking about it and I decided to check it out again. I don't think it is for everybody, but I like it.

I actually like the new mylot better than the old mylot.  I've not even reached cashout there, but I baasicaly use it as a way to write whatever I want and maybe earn a bit of a bonus on it.

That's because I'm horrible in random socializing. Here I can contribute to the discussion by giving answers, asking questions, or giving information. There's basically a main theme to what I should talk about, like in this forum I can discuss about online works and maybe in other forum I can discuss about education. Also I don't want to post trivial and meaningless stuff there. I want to post something that can spark enough discussions from other members.

I would have no problem at all doing this if the pay is decent, but from the testimonies I have the pay sucks, so it's really not worth the time.

I was a member there many years ago, but it takes quite a long time to earn $10 there. I think it took me 5 months? And when they stopped paying my balance of around $7 was forfeited. So based on my previous experience, I won't be going back to Mylot anymore.

I used to use MyLot back in the days where you earned quite a decent amount from your posts. I soon got to the stage where I was able to earn at least $10 a day from it, but then they changed their algorithm and earnings plummeted. By the sounds of things, it has improved, and people are able to earn quite a lot of money from it again. If this is the case, then I may well choose to try it again - because it was always a great website to earn on while I was there.

$10 a day in Mylot? Is that even possible? It's quite hard to earn there, you post a few replies and you only earn a few cents.

I have heard about it before but I never really bothered checking out the site because of other online gigs that kept me busy. I have only learned about how it really works through this thread. Basing on the things I've read so far, I don't know if I would really ever consider checking the site out soon. I think I'll just stick with forum posting and doing short tasks for now. :)

Have you seen some of the posts there, @hafiz93?! I honestly feel that you'd do just fine. No, scratch that, I think you'd do better than some of the posters there. -and if you're just not comfortable submitting posts, you really don't have to. There are no penalties for that, and you earn at the same rate just responding to other people's posts. Maybe you could just start 'small', observe how others you consider good writers do it and then go down the same route once you've built some confidence? There's really no pressure there, that's one positive I'll give MyLot; credit where it's due and all that. Good luck :)
