Has anyone ever made any money with DeviantArt? I used to use the site years ago just as a way to get feedback on some of the photographs I took but I never made any money there. I wondered if anyone here ever has.

Huh, I never really thought of this site as a way to make money. I have found the site before and mostly think of it as a graphics design site where artists can show off their drawings. And I've been in awe of the drawings as well since they were very well crafted. I imagine that lots of people there have found clients just by showcasing their works.

You probably could make some money off of your art through Deviantart, but I think you need to use stuff like Patreon. So you mostly could make money off of people's donations for your art. I've even seen people set up a Patreon campaign for their rule34 art.

I haven't make any money with DeviantArt either! Along with this site, I also use RedBubble, CafePress, Society6 and another website, but I only made two sales from Society6.

I don't see the point on using these sites either, because there seem to be more creators than buyer on every website out there.

Yes, but indirectly. It's an excellent site for artists to display their work and eventually gain a few paying clients. Many artists on DeviantArt do commission work for others, and some of them charge a pretty penny. However, it's not a site one uses to try to make money off the bat.

That's much my thoughts about it - I feel like there are just so many items for sale on those sites that it can be really hard to stand out from the crowd, you know? I don't think for me it would be very rewarding.

No, I never even heard of it before! -and I probably wouldn't have a need for it, because it's so far removed from my skill set. I'm so rubbish at taking pictures, I can't even take a selfie. I mean, I must be the only person in the whole wide world who can't take a selfie, right LOL?

I think in that case I'll steer clear of trying to use the site as a way to make money and maybe focus more on using it as a portfolio of sorts instead. I suppose as a way to showcase all your work together it could work well but as a means to actually sell it doesn't seem like it's a particularly successful site. Thanks for all your input everyone!

I don`t think DeviantArt will ever pay you for the traffic you get to your drawings and photos, but nowadays, you can get funded through many different means. Those are basically donations from users who like your art, but if you are a really talented artist, you could make money off of the platform.
