Affiliate Marketing Experiences
« on: March 22, 2016, 09:13:31 AM »
Hello everyone!

I have a blog which i just started last year but I'm still finding my way through it until now. I have tried using PTC advertisements and I have just recently tried incorporating affiliate marketing on my blog. I still don't have any conversions yet but I understand that it also takes time before I would be able to earn from my blog and from my affiliate link.

How are you guys doing so far with your affiliate marketing? How long did it take you before you were able to monetize through this kind of technique?

Affiliate marketing has never worked out for my blogs, and I have been blogging since 2008. PTC sites also didn't work. I have earned from adsense, yes, but it took a year to reach $100 threshold. I earned mostly from paid posts that I do on my blogs in the past years, not now though! Things are 100% more difficult now with Google changing their algorithm.

Affiliate marketing does work, but it takes time and patience and a lot of traffic. I would only consider using it after you have upwards of 1000 visitors a day. I would also suggest not just following the normal Amazon route. If you have a niche site that gives parenting advise for instance, contact big baby product retailers and try and negotiate a commision to have their links on your site.

SEO is also very important so make sure you understand and apply the principles.

I believe you have quite a bit of knowledge concerning SEO and keywords. Would you be kind enough to share a few short tips? I find that the more I read these kind of information, the more confused it is for me! One said do this and then another said do that just left me really behind in the dust :(

I haven't done blogging a lot in the past few years but in the past I ran several blogs that started to generate a bit of money. The key was quality, targeted traffic.

I also built a lot of webpages and other small sites all on related topics and would link everything to eachother to create a lot of cross-traffic. It took about 6 months before I started to see income trickle in, but it also continued to trickle in from organic search traffic for about 2 years after I stopped maintaining or updating those blogs.

It was worth it in the end, but a lot of upfront work.

I continue to be interested in Affiliate Marketing but find that I suffer from information overload and get stuck neither going forward or backward. I found a forum that I mentioned earlier Affiliate Fix that's very useful but still I can't seem to get started. All I can say is that I have experience in finding great information including some of the advice I have found here.

I've just signed up with some affiliates and many now don't allow PTC ads on a site, so while some may, it might harm your chances of being accepted by other affiliates.

Personally I think PPC has gone down, even with traffic as people have ad blocker or they know not to click. Plus if you don't 'control' the ads you can lose traffic because there are so many dating foreign women ads that many affiliates don't want next to their banner.

I also see these ads a lot and I myself would never want these promotions about dating to come out on my blog especially because my blog is mostly about inspirational things. It would be a major turn-off for my readers if they see such ads coming out of my blog which is not even a popular one yet.

Sometimes you can't control all of the ads, and some may slip through. I know when I had Adsense, you can only block so many, and there were also the make money quick ads that I didn't like.

Then you have to look at the fact that these only make money if people click on them usually and and that won't amount to much.

I usually use social media to bring in traffic to my sites and therefore, the visitors come in quite quickly.

The moment I hit 100 visitors per day I start putting affiliate links and usually get 1 conversion per day, which if you add up is quite a nice amount of money.

Personally I am average 1 order from 16 form impressions using clickbank.

Good for you because you're able to get a conversion with Clickbank. I have also singed up for their affiliate program but I haven't made a conversion yet. Maybe I need to improve my marketing strategies more. They do tutorials on how to succeed as their affiliate but I've only tried quiet a few of them yet. I have been hearing a lot of good reviews about Clickbank though.  :)
