Is this a scam?
« on: June 24, 2016, 02:54:26 PM »
Have you heard of "New Image Marketing?" I am wondering because they seem to be a legit company, but I'm not sure. I have not heard of them before. They have self-assign mystery shopper jobs. The thing that set off red flags for me is that even though they say they pay via PayPal, they want your social security number. Has anyone heard of this company before?

I have never heard of this site. However, I believe that a site cannot be termed scam just because it asks for social security number. Perhaps, the site only want Americans to work on it. Many sites want you to verify your account by connecting it to paypal, and they are genuine.

Vinaya has a point but on my part, if a site asks for personal information about me especially if it comes to some legal aspects of me like a social security or something, I prefer to just stay away. It's better to be safe than never right? Nowadays, there are just too many scammers out there who are just waiting for their next prey to take a hold of their bait. I think Sidney's link is also worth looking at. :)

I am glad that you researched about this site and gave your verdict. I will never get involved with any site that sets off red flags. However, sometimes I try new sites by giving them benefit of doubt. This is usually with the site that has low cashout option, for instance $5 or $10.
