Have You Ever Tried Drop Shipping?
« on: August 02, 2016, 11:07:29 AM »
Hi guys! :)

I have once considered trying drop shipping to augment my online income so I tried researching about it and I spent days trying to find a good drop shipping company to work with and represent with potential customers. I just didn't push through yet because I'm still having doubts if it could work for me.

I'm curious if anyone here has ever tried drop shipping. What are your thoughts about this kind of business?

I have tried drop shipping but have stopped it and gone with the inventory model. There are a few advantages of drop shipping due to which I stopped it like:

  • No control over supply chain
  • Product going out of stock in between
  • No quality checks
  • Improper communication from the manufacturer

Due to these reasons, I actually switched over from drop shipping to the inventory based model, since i was able to control all of these things.

One concern I have when it comes to drop shipping is the quality of the products, which I don't have any way of determining unless I order some myself. I don't want my name to get tainted on my customers just because the product I have sold them is of low quality or has been delivered too late. If I am going to do an online selling business, I would pretty much want to be in control of the quality of products and services I give to my customers because that's how I'm going to develop my name and earn the trust of the people I sell to.
