I've been searching through work at home jobs on Craigslist and I've seen quite a few but most of them seem like scams or sales jobs. I saw a few that look good and pay pretty well but I've never applied for a job advertised on Craigslist.Have any of you applied or taken a job advertised there and what was your experience?
I have found nearly all of my life's jobs through Craigslist. But like you said, there's a lot of trash listed there, and you have to be really aware of them!
I've never regretted applying for something on Craigslist, and I've applied for dozens of jobs. Obviously they have hundreds of people applying for the good ones, so they don't always get back to you, and if they do, it's not right away (though I almost always have great results from following up, as they know I'm really interested then.)
My main tip is to follow their application instructions exactly.
A lot of people, in their rush to apply for as many jobs as possible, do the bare minimum. If they ask for your resume, do attach it and make sure it looks good - but a cover letter is always in order, even if it's just in the body of the email. That way they know that you've read the description and you truly believe you're right for the job. Make them feel like their position is the only one you're applying to.
Also, match the tone in the ad. If they seem like a laid back company and have some little jokes in their ad, you can be more casual. If they are very formal, be very formal.
I only rarely apply to jobs that have poor grammar and spelling, unless they're looking for an admin assistant because they know their own writing sucks!
Hope this helps in your search!
