Are Typing Jobs Considered Scams
« on: August 19, 2016, 08:34:58 AM »
Hi guys!  :)

There are a lot of websites offering typing jobs for a long time now and I have looked at some of them time after time. I sometimes want to signup for some but when I look for reviews regarding typing jobs, I mostly see negative feed backs about them. Do you think typing jobs are mostly scams? Is there really a legit typing job site?

No, I don't think, generally speaking, typing jobs are scams.  Nonetheless, they might not pay enough money for a worker in a developed nation, or there might not be enough work available at one time to pay the bills in a developed nation.  In that way, they could seem like a scam to some people. Note, it is true that a lot of people, due to lack of time, would need to someone to fill in data on certain websites, so there is a good demand for the service.

I think it's hard to find which ones are the legit ones though. There are just too many typing job opportunities out there and I have seen quiet a lot with too good to be true offers for a simple typing task. I usually research on the reviews of these kinds of sites though, and when I mostly see negative feed backs, I just choose to stay away and look for other reliable ones. :)

I don't feel typing is valued as a skill hence the pay seems very low because they expect so many words per minute. In the old days that's how they classified you and paid you via a test to see how many accurate words per minute you could do.

I was bad at barely 30wpm and so I looked at jobs, but with computers and spell check it is no longer a skill and thus the pay is low.

I posit that I would not venture into typing jobs due to the fact that they are too mainstream, the jobs are not specialised. There are too many people with typing skills, practically anyone who regularly works online but with varying speeds. This creates room for plenty of scam opportunities since there will always be an army of online typists. I think the best place to access typing jobs is in freelance sites like Freelancer, Upwork or Elance.

Not all of the clients you find on freelancing sites are trustworthy. I know some friends who were hired from these sites doing typing or data entry tasks and were not paid. Any type of online job posts a potential risk just be careful.

Well I guess there are some sites that are legit, but I guess like what has been said, they don't pay much money. I think if you want a typing job then you have to look at transcription instead, I heard it's profitable.

There are a lot of websites offering typing job. I am really surprised that there are a lot of software to convert a book into text then why they need people to type it. They offer such an easy work so people would not take much time to sign up and pay for registration.

I think it is totally wastage of time. It is better to work for some original Legitimate site rather than a scam.
