Newslines
« on: August 24, 2016, 01:00:03 PM »
There is an interesting website which I came across by chance called Newslines which is an online news portal. The sign up process is straightforward and the site seems to be worldwide in scope. Its about writing news revolving around personalities in your region using their timeline. However, one has to submit at least 20 posts using their guidelines in order to qualify for writing here which involves short posts of about 100 words. One can always redo the test if you don't get their format right. They seem to have changed their payment model as they used to pay $1 for every 1,000 views and seem to have become a revshare site. Anyone who has experience with Newslines?

I just checked Newslines.com. There is no website with this domain name, the domain Newslines.com is for sale. I Googled Newslines and found out that there is a site by the name Newslines.org which has been described as 'Crowdsourced News Search Engine. ... Newslines supplies news to social media." I don't think the site you have mentioned exist. However, the site you have explained could have been existed in the past. There are links that recommend similar site.

The site in question was Newslines.org.

I joined Newslines in July 2015 and was active on the site for a short while, publishing 78 short posts. I even "won" $10 in a contest for the members who could publish the most posts in a particular week, though with minimum cash out at $20 (I think) I never received my money. When I realised that points didn't equate to cents and that my other earnings were close to zero, I stopped posting.

I've just visited the site and some elements are still there, including the posts I published, but user accounts seem to have disappeared. That means that not only did I not get paid for my work but I'm no longer even receiving credit for it.

It seems a very particular site, I like how it sounds, I will give it a try because I like to write and here in my country are a lot of people to write about, from politicians, to famous people through the good people who make good things to other people.

This seems like a very difficult job for me to be honest. I don't think I'd be able to write news articles as I'm not a journalist and I have never done anything like that.
