How to increase your post count without being banned
« on: August 30, 2016, 11:04:55 PM »
I can see that some members here make some money getting paid to post in forums. I have been paid often to do the same thing. I have also won a few posting contests. Here, I am not saying that I am a qualified expert on forum posting. I just want to share my experience.

That's right. You can increase your post count without being banned and stay in the good books of the forum owners as well. Please note that this is definitely not about how to increase your post count by contributing fluff or posting trash. Here goes...

Tip #1 Don't just say thank you.

Consider this scenario. You post a picture of yourself. Someone says that you look good in your picture. You say "Thank you". So what does the other person say? "Thank you, too"? See what I am getting at?

When you post a simple "Thank you", you are being polite, but that's it. You are not adding anything much to the forum content. You are not even making a real effort to increase your post count the correct way. What you should say should be something like this:

"Thank you. Do you think I would have looked better if I put on some purple lipstick?"

Now this response invites replies. And you can respond to the replies. Viola! Your post count increases. You have added some interesting content to the forum. You are happy. The forum owner is happy.

That is really interesting.  I do this to, I'll thank someone for their post and then ask them a further question so I can post more on a thread without seeming like I'm spamming it.  This is something I uses especially for new forums that don't have that many threads to begin with.

Good to know that my idea is not unique. Actually, this is something very easy to do. However, many forum posters tend to just write a few lines expressing their viewpoint and leave it at that. To have a conversation, there must be some back and forth. So asking a question is a good way to keep the ball rolling. Even when you are answering question by the previous poster you can still end with a question.

Let's say, it's a question about, say, how to install Windows. You know how to do it. You post your suggestions about how to get it done. Then, at the end, you ask something like:

"Does that work for you?"

Tada! The ball keeps on rolling.

Posters sometimes suffer from posting block. Some threads don't offer much to pay but it wouldn't be prudent to write only a few lines which would not help what the forum owner is looking for. Instead of skipping posts and looking for the ones you are really comfortable with, you can give instances in your own life or give an alternative angle to the thread.

Yes, I think that works. Giving your personal viewpoint or personal experience is definitely preferable to just saying something so general that it could be copied and pasted into just about any thread. It's the personal touch which makes a forum unique. Anyone just looking for general information can simply ask Uncle Google.

It depends on the forums you are referring to. What I know is that forums would reward those who have a high post count if it adds to the value to the discussion. You can also add more value by creating new threads rather than just replying to discussions. This will compensate for those posts which have less than desired word count.

That sounds like a plan. Not a full plan but still a plan. In the first place, we should never fail the first commandment of forum posting. Never post less than the specified word count. Creating new threads may offset some posts with lower word count. The key word is 'may'. Which means it can also be 'may not'.
