Finished Your Book is just the first step
« on: September 10, 2016, 05:53:03 PM »
I finished my first book a year ago and I have found that finished it is the easy part.  The hard part is marketing and getting people to find and buy your book.  The concept of marketing is so foreign to me that I struggled the first couple of months.  As someone who doesn't want to sell to just friends and family, it's important to have a plan on how to sell your book after you're finished editing it.

How about promoting your book through Facebook? Facebook has a huge market. You can begin by posting snippets on your Facebook wall. If your book is interesting to some people, they may share it on their walls and it can go very fast from there.

Well, I find editing it the hard part (even if you have someone to do it), and then marketing it because it's so personal, figuring what genres it comes under, and who really is your audience?

I have a website for my books (preparation) and also an author website, as well as an Amazon page, and Goodreads page. These are all the things you need before you promote it.

Finishing a book takes a lot of hard work but you do it because you like writing. Marketing it is more difficult and looking for someone to publish the book (or buy it) takes a lot of time and you have to be patient. Like in all things in life you need luck too.
