Walgreens Work From Home Scam
« on: September 22, 2016, 06:02:15 PM »
Oops!  I meant to post this in the Scam thread!  Sorry about that!
There was a scam going around that originally said that Walgreens was hiring for work-at-home jobs.  It seems that the site that listed them wasn't the actual website, but a false one that was collecting data.  If you see a link to jobs with a company, my advice would be to go to the actual company's website and follow the Careers (or however they have it listed) link instead of following one from a page.  It is very easy with today's design tools to make a website that looks very close to the official one.  I'm sure Walgreens is a legitimate employer, but people are using its name to advertise false leads.

Scam sites posing as famous companies damage not only job applicants seeking honest employment, but also the legitimate employers whose business and goodwill are being damaged.  I'm pretty certain Walgreens is doing everything to preserve its good name and seek restitution against the people who have used its name for an illicit purpose.

This one really just screams scam at me, especially when I see the name Walgreens in there.  I would think that this is too reputable of a company to actually do these like this, so the fact that someone is trying to say that it is in their name just throw up some pretty big red flags for me.  I can definitely see why these scams seem to work though, and I am sure people are falling for it left and right in some places, which is unfortunate.
