Are you a night owl?
« on: October 17, 2016, 12:03:09 PM »
Some people have day jobs which hinder them from working online at this time and therefore prefer to work at night. This applies to my case because I have a day time teaching engagement which takes most of my time. Some sites also have more work during the night, a good example being Iwriter. Are you a night owl?

Hey I didn't know Iwriter has more work at night, thanks for sharing that. The summer I did garden work so the latest I was up was 1am most of the time and I wasn't always doing online work at that time. Tomorrow I have an orientation for a night job so my online work probably will be something I do early morning or late evenings once I start my schedule. For the time being though I am just working when I can. I am more of a night owl though, I seem more productive later in the day.

I don't find that I have the energy for the night hours anymore! Before I had a child I think I was actually a pretty good night owl - I wish I had known about more online earning opportunities back then as it would have been a good way to spend some of those insomniac hours! But these days I'm usually pretty early to bed and early to rise.

Maybe a few years ago I could have claimed being a night owl.... I even pulled a few all-nighters in the past.   But now    :o   well now I just don't have it in me to stay up late any longer.  I *am* the opposite, though, and love getting a very early start in the morning.  I have noticed that I do my best work and stay more focused before 9 a.m.

I'm usually heavy into my work before 6 a.m. but then I try to have everything finished by 5 p.m.   Makes for a long day, but it works for me and I really do enjoy doing things that way.  If I have something that needs to be finished, I sometimes get back to it after dinner, but I never work after 8 p.m. and I never put it at a higher priority than family needs.

No, I am not a night owl. I just maintain regular daytime hours for the most part. I do work at night, sometimes but not usually past about 11:30 PM. I use my night time hours for sleeping. I think I would be tired if I tried to work at night. To me it's not worth it.

If I am on vacation or sick days then I'm very much a night owl, I just end up staying up doing whatever, whether it's games, Netflix, or generally relaxing.
Unfortunately, on work nights, I don't have that luxury since I have to be up around 7am and dn't like walking around all day like a  zombie :)

I've been a night owl my whole life but I'm really trying to change because it's bad for a lot of aspects in my life. I've reached a stage where I'm able to switch off my computer by 10pm, but then I still tend to do a lot of things offline so I'm still getting to bed a lot later than I should. At least it's a step in the right direction and hopeful I'll eventually learn to keep more "normal" hours.

If Prolific Academic hadn't stopped providing studies to people from my country it might have been a lot harder for me to make this change because when I was still getting studies a lot of them came after midnight. Sometimes earning opportunities can have really unhealthy consequences for other areas of one's life.

I always work daily and I never work at night. I just think I'm not the type of person who has energy at night. So I'm focused doing my job during daylight.

For me it depends. I have periods where I can't sleep and I do a large majority of my work late at night and then I have weeks where I go to bed very early. Luckily for me, I have a quite flexible schedule since I do almost everything from my home (my university degree helps a lot). So, I don't have problems either way.

I'd hate it if I'd have to get up at stupid morning hours after I've been awake till 2 AM the previous day.

I like staying up late but not too late - I can't really work past midnight. I wake up pretty late too but it depends on what I have to do the next day.

I work on two forum posting sites; and because they're both quite tedious to work on, I tend to do the first one during the morning and the second one during the night. They both have different reset times which fits my schedule neatly anyways. I would say I'm a night owl though because I prefer working at night when I'm more relaxed and more focused, that is until I get hit by fatigue. I'm about to buy computer glasses soon to see if it makes any difference.

I definitely am. I have much more focus to do anything during the night. I also study at night. I work during the day only when I have lots of free time and need something to pass time, though that rarely happens and I don't even have the chance to work. But yeah, I really prefer working at night. Less distractions, first of all.

I'm definitely a night owl. Working at night is very convenient for me because there are no distractions whatsoever. My mind is also more active at night so I tend to be more productive. The content site where I'm currently working on a full time basis releases assignment at night time so that's when I'd usually claim a project and start working right away. I love that there are no errands to make or chores to do at night and that allows me to work continuously.

Yes, I am. I'm more productive at night time. It's one of the reason why I wake up late. It takes me 1/3 of the day before I get active and productive. I do all my work at night time.
