Content Gather (Postloop re-routes there)
« on: November 01, 2016, 08:51:33 AM »
I went to Postloop just to see what would happen, and it's now a site called Content Gather, which sounds as if it runs somewhat similarly to @SpikeTheLobster's WriteLearnEarn. Here's the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to the site. It does sound interesting, and there's a FAQ section, although I still have some questions about how it works, even after reading that section.

The site looks good.  They pay Paypal and they don't make you wait for two weeks, you have to meet the five dollar minimum with a fifty cents but no fee if you wait ten dollars.

It looks interesting, and at the very least it could be an easy $5. I'll have to do a bit more research on this one.

I joined today. It seems the site is still somewhat under construction, since some fields say stay tuned, etc., but since we all know Ryan, I think it's worth trusting that it will turn out o.k., and this might be a good time to sit down and think about writing a few articles that can be sold on there.

It's low risk for him, and a content mill. Now if he was strict with clients that would be a better incentive to join, as in no spam or dodgy sites. However, he is only the middle man and most won't take any responsibility.

I don't think it is an easy site to earn from! What you do is to submit articles of 500-1000 words, must pass the editing team, get a rating on your articles, and then it will be published on the site for buyers to choose from! If your article happens to get a low rating, it will be displayed right next to those articles with higher rating. Thus, your chance of selling that article is right out the door.

I think it is a humiliating way to writers as we all know how rating can go! One editor might think it is a fantastic article, but if you get a moody and cranky editor, you are doomed! Personally, I don't like this system a bit.

Thanks for sharing, Diane. I was wondering what happened with the site. Don't think I'll be joining because I want to focus on my own writing and building a brand. However, I'll pass this info on to others.

I think it sounds like a good deal, but it's not the best thing ever.  For one thing, there it's no sure thing that people will buy your article - or that enough people will buy it for you to make a good living.  In that case, I might use the website as a backup plan, but not my main source of income.

I didn't make any money with that Content Gather site. They were too strict with the content they allowed and didn't allow. I feel more comfortable with a site like Postloop. I am a big picture kind of person. I am not great on dotting all I's and T's. I don't think Content Gather would have ever worked for me.

Glad to see some honest feedback. I think content mills suit some people, but in general it's a bit like stacking shelves in a grocery store to me. They want it in a specific way and there is no room for ideas or creativity, which is pretty much the opposite of writing is to me.

In that respect I doubt it would have worked for me, and there is the FOMO, but the fact is clients that use content mills do so because they aren't looking for uniqueness, but value and the best price.
