Yes, you would think this would make sense. I think some people tend to get glaze-eyed over the prospect of how much they could *potentially* get. I have seen peopel promoting companies for the huge amount of money they are making, but they also have not actually received any of that money. The biggest excuse I have heard is that the payout amount is so high, so that is why they have not received anything.

I would not continue working if I had not received payment.  I also like to cash out when I reach the threshold.  I don't like to have my money tied up because you never know when a company might close up shop.

Here's my little suggestion and it's worked for me. Email and then TWEET the company. It's public, and in a professional way you can ask when you will be paid out. They will be a little more likely to respond to you as opposed to ignoring it and having all your followers and anyone who searches the hashtag (put the hashtag!).

That's a really good tip! Calling them out in front of an audience can definitely help to speed things along, haha.

Exactly, second that, every point of yours.Trusting a site is never a wise act. They might sometimes promise to pay you but might run off.I personally have had to face many a situations like this. Some affiliates promise money, but abscond after their work gets over.
it has been engraved all over..Never work if you are not paid..

That has always amazed me.  I have been in a situation where "broke" was putting it lightly, but I refuse to work for free.  I always reach minimum and payout because the way I see it, you never know what can happen and companies close all the time.  But working for a high payout and then continue working without getting paid?  It doesn't make sense.  It's like continuing to go to work to a place that owes me three weeks of backpay.  What's the saying?  Fool me once, shame on you.

Maybe it is a case of not wanting to admit that you have been taken for a ride? The thought of which if ignored may clear up and it was just thoughts you ought not think, because you were never that silly to get had.
All of us can get scammed and it is not stupidity that gets us scammed just bad luck. I think we need to be able to protect a loss making position by, not through the hard efforts away on people or companies not worth it.
It is like going out with someone who lies and cheats on you because you do not want to think of yourself as that stupid and if they change then you will not look as silly as you do now.

I wouldn't want to keep working for a site that didn't pay money.  If it happened once, then I might let it slide depending on the reason.  If it keeps happening, I would find out what was going on.  If I don't hear from them, I would stop working for the site.

Yes it is a common sense that one should stop working in a site when it stops paying him.  I think another way to see if the site is a scam or not is through researching first about the site before joining in. There are now lots of resources online where we can read reviews for sites just like forums like this. It will be harder to try first the site, reached the minimum payout and never get paid.
Some sites will pay at first or will pay few members to make them look legit. Then when they already got lots of members and already earned from members, they will stop paying.

The thing with reviewing a site first before using it is that you'd often get a mix of positive and negative reviews. Some sites would even have fake reviews just to make them appear great. And people who really want to make money will try out different sites. That's just how things work. The lure of making money is just too irresistible to some.

But of course! Actually, even before we, online workers, go for any online jobs, we should be diligent to search for reviews about the online sites we go to. It is better to be wary and ask around for the legitimacy of any sites we go to than to be sorry afterwards. Connect with other online workers to get informed. And when you have been ripped off, please post a review or share your experience online so that others will be warned. Thanks!  :)

That subject line may sound like a no-brainer... but I am always amazed to hear things like "I haven't been paid my last five paychecks/cash-outs, what's going on here?!"

Until it's known whether the non-paying place is a scam or if a non-payment is an honest mistake, I'd never keep working for them in the meantime.  (Well, maybe just until I'd try to find out why I wasn't paid, but that would only take a few days... I've seen people complaining about being many paychecks or months behind!)

My method is to work the amount of points needed to get my first check, then quit until I receive that check.  If I don't get it, I don't continue to work and I try to make for sure others know it is a scam.  Luckily I have only ever run into 1 like that and I made it well known that they were a scam.  I can't remember who it was, I just remember that they were PPC.

Very food point!! This is something I have done before...especially on public sites...what I do is privately first and give them time to respond...then I go public  :). Not for this type of thing though....

That said, I do agree that it is unwise to continue working if previous "due" payment has not been made. Its not all about the money...but it is all about the money, if you get what I am saying ;D. The reason we work is because we want to make money, therefore if we are doing the work but not getting the pay, we should do something different! 8)

I think that a lot of people get caught because you have to do so much work to reach the initial payout. I do a lot of research before I commit to working with a company. I love the idea of asking publicly on Facebook and using the hashtags.

I have a company I am about to do that for right now. I know all of the hashtags they like to use, I used to write them for them. ;)

It just goes to show the level of desperation that exist out there as it relates to making an extra income. There is a point though when good sense have to prevail and one needs to move on as oppose to remaining in a non profit state.
