Make a blog because you love writing and because you want to share something with people. Money in my opinion should be second. If you start writing expecting money, you're content will show it and you'll be sorely disappointed. Understand that to make money you'll need like Google adense and adwords or even an affiliate that just writing will get you viewers, but not necessarily money. Look at popular blogs and see what makes them popular. It is the content, their marketing, and what they can provide the reader/consumer.

Successful blogs all seem to share the same characteristics. Firstly, they're well-written and consistently come out with new material. Secondly, they focus on a single area. The smaller the better, it seems. The age of the niche is upon us.

May be you wanted to say the more specific the niche the better it is for your blog. Because small could refer to a niche with a very few number of searches or a small blog could refer to a blog with low amount of content. Where as specific niche could have a large or small number of searches.

If you consider making your own blog i advise you to not write about something you think would be interesting to a lot of people, but something you think is really interesting and something you can write about for some time. It's really important to focus on one topic, because then your readers will be more likely to read other posts by you after they read one.

I have always wanted to create a blog, but unfortunately, I don't have the patience and will to do it. I also don't think I can think of coming up with unique content on a regular basis, so I have long ditched the idea of making my own blog. But if you're talking about having a blog that offers free downloads and you re-direct the content to those pay per download sites, then that's what I'm interested in doing, I just don't know how to get it started yet.

I'm not sure if that is even profitable, because so much people already do it and they are only becoming more and taking market shares from each other. Unless you are really skilled in SEO I don't think it will be worth it to do that. But on the other hand once you set it up, it's not too much work so it might be a little bit of semi-passive income for you.

These days you can create almost any sort of website using WordPress. It is a free Content Management Script (CMS) mostly used for blogging but you can also create other sort of website easily with it. Just search for WordPress and how you can create such a website. It is really easy to use and install plus it is free. I am not talking about WordPress.com here. I am referring to WordPress.org from where you can download the script and install it on your server. If you are not in the mood to pay for a hosting at the moment you can try installing it on a free web hosting and experiment with it and play around a little. The free web hosting that I recommend you to use is 000webhost. I have even written a tutorial on how to install the script on 000webhost. I know it might sound difficult but in fact it is really easy.

I couldn't agree with you more. I wish that I had started blogging back when I was in high school. Even if you have no interest in making a career out of it, it is still good to express your opinion on a topics that interest you. There are an unlimited amount of blogs out there who are run by people you would never guess would have one. Now the first thing that may come you is that you don't have anything to blog about. If that's the case just simply blog about a topic that you're interested in or curious about. You would amazed at how much knowledge you can gain on a topic when you have a blog to continuously feed content to. Good luck!

I have been thinking of doing a blog that will serve as a diary on building up my endeavors as a work from homer. (Not that I am a work from homer at present, but that would be like a 10 year plan)

I think this is such a great idea. It would help teens to explore creative venues, while also opening them up to new experiences they would have with a blog - like online communication, safety, and new experiences they would venture to while exploring their topics.

Ah, blogging. I am well versed in that realm. I've had several blogs in many different topics. If there's one thing I've found, it is that you've got to advertise your blog. You may write about the right things, but I find it hard to believe that traffic will just sort of make its way to you. You need to tell people about the blog. Get hooked up on the relevant social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc.) and mention the blog often.  That seems to be the unsavory part of blogging for income - getting people to know your blog really exists.

I have never succeeded in getting a blog to generate income. I would love to be directed to some instructions or a tutorial that could help me get this going. If I know I am going to earn something, I would definitely have the motivation to put time and effort into my content, but last I tried, I couldn't figure out how to make Adsense work for me and never earned anything.  I don't know how to start getting traffic to my blog. It's way harder than it sounded when I was first looking into it.

Honestly, it is not easy running and monetizing a blog. I have already tried making money through blogging but it never became profitable on my end. Well, if you would really exert a lot of effort on your blog, and you have such a huge passion for it, then I guess it might work for you.

Creating a blog is quite easy once you have everything worked out such as what type of blog, niche or free-range, subjects matter for the blog, how many times to post in a week, and your devotion. After the initial set up is done, you should have many posts on it already, and start to mingle with other bloggers.

It takes a quite to build up followers and a while to get your blog indexed by search engines or a Google page rank. Making money with blogs will be hard nowadays unless you're one of the well known gurus!
